Beaumont well repesented at the EANN Congress (European Association of Neuroscience Nurses)

The 11th EANN Quadrennial congress and SBNS spring meeting in partnership with BANN (British Association) took place in Manchester Central convention complex from 19th – 22nd March 2019.
There were representatives from Europe and also guest speakers from the WFNN. Speakers at the congress included Joanne Hickey author of “Clinical practice of neurological and neurosurgical nursing” and Sir Alex Ferguson who gave an inspiring lecture on leadership.
Ciara O’Rourke and Deirdre Nolan represented Beaumont Hospital on the BANN organising committee. They helped organised the event and acted as chair, moderator and adjudicators at congress.
Beaumont Hospital were well representated at the congress with oral presentations from Paula Corr and Deirdre Nolan on “The safe and timely transfer of the SAH patient” and Niamh Fleming and Sarah Curran on “Care of the detoriating patient, the intubation process”.
Poster presentations were from Swapna Baby RITU on “Paediatric GCS assessment”, Adrienne Finn Pre-assessment Nurse on “Improving the neurosurgical patient pathway” and Sarah Hogan Skull Base CNS who was awarded 2nd place for her poster presentation on “The role of the nurse led virtual telephone clinic in the follow up management of benign skull based tumours”.
