New Facilities Opened

Saturday May 16, 2009

Last April, the Minister for Older People and Health Promotion, Áine Brady, opened a new Hepatology Unit and a new 3 storey ward block at the Hospital.

Beaumont is one of eight national specialist centres designated specifically for the care of patients who were infected with Hepatitis C through  the administration of contaminated blood and blood products within the State.

Approximately 120 patients attend Beaumont Hospital for Hepatology services. The new unit, which became operational in 2008, has waiting and outpatient areas, consultation and meeting room facilities.

The new 28-bed unit includes facilities that can be accessed by cystic fibrosis and medical oncology patients.
