Beaumont Hospital restricts visiting hours due to recent Norovirus outbreak (Mon 21st March)

Friday January 01, 2010

Beaumont Hospital has urged anyone who is suffering from the Norovirus to seek advice from their GP before presenting to the hospital’s emergency department.

The hospital says it is experiencing pressure on services, including the emergency department, due to the Norovirus outbreak in recent days.

Key symptoms of Norovirus are nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea.

Beaumont Hospital has put in place visiting restrictions as a preventative measure to help contain the outbreak:

•         One visitor only per patient per visiting period is permitted.

•         Children are not permitted to visit in any circumstances.

In a statement today, the hospital said it “is appealing to the public for their support in observing these restrictions for the common good. Beaumont Hospital would like to acknowledge the co-operation and support of the public in advance for their cooperation”.
