The Blood Transfusion Department comes under the umbrella of the Clinical Directorate of Laboratory Medicine. It incorporates the Blood Transfusion Laboratory, the Haemovigilance and Traceability functions, and the clinical transfusion consultancy service. The Blood Transfusion Department complies with the International Standard ISO 15189 (Registration Number 225 MT), and the regulations, policies, and terms and conditions of both the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA). |

Services
The Blood Transfusion Department is actively involved in provision of the following services to all Hospital doctors, as well as to St. Joseph's Hospital Raheny, Raheny Community Nursing Unit, and St. Francis Hospice:
