Our critical care department consists of two intensive care units that are comprised of 20 critical care beds, named ICU North and ICU South. The two units are situated on the lower ground of the hospital. We care for individuals who have varying acuity and multi - system illness, as well as trauma. As the Neuro Centre of Excellence, we specialise in Neurosurgical/Neurological cases. The unit also majors in post-operative oesophagectomy procedures and renal transplant post-operative care. We receive admissions from local wards/ED/theatre/interdepartmental transfers and neighbouring/national hospital transfers.
Our Critical Care Department is run by a highly specialised team which includes consultants, senior doctors, nursing staff, health care assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, porters, dieticians and pharmacists who are integral to the provision of high quality patient focused care.
