Neuropsychiatry Service
Beaumont Hospital is the National Neurosurgical Centre in Ireland. The Department of Psychiatry, recognising the demand for a specialist Neuropsychiatry service in view of the high numbers of referrals from the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery, established a specialist Neuropsychiatry in-patient Consultation-Liaison service (312 patients in 2007) and a weekly Neuropsychiatry outpatient clinic (87 new, 303 review patients in 2007) . This is the only Neuropsychiatry service in Ireland and operates as a tertiary referral service, taking referrals from both Consultant Psychiatrists and Neurologists. A Behavioural Genetics outpatient clinic is held once per month.
