About Rheumatology
Rheumatology is the speciality of medicine that is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. Rheumatology problems involve joints, soft tissues and connective tissues. There are approximately 200 types of rheumatology conditions, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Lupus, Gout, Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis.
About us
The department, through its multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and rehabilitation staff, provides holistic care to patients with arthritis-related diseases, offering treatments that alleviate pain, maintain or improve joint mobility, help prevent disease progression and damage, while promoting self management for patients and their families.
Clinics
The department provides 4 general rheumatology clinics weekly, 2 biological-specific clinics a month and 1 lupus-specific clinic a month.

Referrals
Referrals to the rheumatology department are through the General Practitioner to a Rheumatology Consultant. Submitted letters are assessed by the Rheumatologist and an appropriate appointment will be forwarded directly to the patient.
The email address below is for referrals to Rheumatology where HealthLinks cannot be used. We encourage all referrals to come through HealthLink as this is the safest and most appropriate method however as some GP practices do not have access to Healthlink the email addresses below will be an alternative method of referral.
