Gender Pay Gap
Beaumont Hospital is pleased to publish its first Gender Pay Gap Report in compliance with the Gender Pay Gap Information Act 2021. The Act requires organisations with over 250 relevant employees to report on their Gender Pay Gap, (GPG), in 2022 by reference to a snapshot date in 2022 and on an annual basis thereafter. Beaumont Hospital, as an employer of circa 4,800 employees, falls within the provisions of the Gender Pay Gap Information Act 2021.
The Gender Pay Gap (GPG) refers to the difference in the average hourly wage of men and women across a workforce. The gender profile of our current workforce in Beaumont is predominantly female at just over 72% which compares with 78% as a whole, for the HSE Statutory Services, Section 38 Hospitals and other hospital agencies.
Similar to all public health sector employers, Beaumont Hospital administers equal pay and terms and conditions in line with the published Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, undifferentiated by gender. It has no autonomy to make changes to these salary scales which have been established at a national level under public sector agreements however, as outlined in it’s inaugural report, it has a GPG. This however, is as a result of a number of factors which are outlined in further detail in the report. Please take time to read it in full to get an understanding of these factors
