Telecommunications / Switchroom

The hospital switchboard operates on a 24/7 basis handling all incoming and outgoing calls.  The operators can be the first point of contact that patients, visitors, relatives and other hospitals engage with when communicating with the hospital by phone.  The staff management of this department is managed by the General Services Department and the Systems and Equipment / Infrastructure continues to be managed by the ICT Department.

We operate a direct dial system to departments which allows the switch to be by-passed and the numbers are advertised on the hospital website to assist patients and members of the public make direct contact with departments.  A voice-mail function is available for use by all departments when land-lines are unmanned.
