Neurosciences, Cochlear Implant, and ENT Directorate

About us

The Neurosciences, Cochlear Implant, and ENT directorate incorporates the National Referral Centre for Neurosurgery, a Regional Referral Centre for Neurology, and a Paediatric Unit. Other specialties are Ophthalmology, Neurophysiology, Neuropathology, and Neuropsychology.

The directorate comprises of 151 beds in the following wards:

  • Richmond ICU
  • Richmond
  • Adams McConnell
  • St. Brigid's
  • St. Anne's
  • St. Raphael's


The Directorate consists of administrative, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, medical social work and medical staff. Patient care within the department is holistic and involves all members of the multidisciplinary team.

  • Eight neurosurgeons, two with a special interest in paediatrics, and four neurologists. A wide range of patient conditions are investigated and treated.
  • Six otolaryngologists, two with special interest in Cochlear Implant
  • Two neurophysiologists
  • Two ophthalmologists
  • One maxillo-facial surgeon
