Centre of Nurse Education
Education and the Professional Development of nurses are key priorities for Beaumont Hospital. In the Centre of Education our focus is the provision of nurse education that is underpinned by evidence-based research. Staff in the Centre work closely with the Practice Development and Learning and Development Units.
We endeavour to provide education that is responsive to shifting service need in the light of demographic changes and a rapidly changing health care environment. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team is the key to our continued success. Expertise from both the academic and clinical settings are utilised to facilitate the provision of education and the integration of theory and practice. A culture of teaching and life long learning is promoted within the Hospital with the purpose of delivering quality patient care and enhancing the professional development of all staff. Through education, training and development we strive to assist nurses to achieve a high standard of patient care by promoting the continuing professional development of each individual nurse through education in tandem with clinical exposure and experience. A range of teaching and learning strategies which embrace adult learning are used within the Centre of Education, these are used to build on the nurse’s previous knowledge and experience. Many of the Programmes are accredited by RCSI and NUI. All programmes are accredited by An Bord Altranais and quality assurance mechanisms are in place to ensure their validity and reliability.

It is our belief that education increases knowledge and enhances nursing skills in the clinical area. It promotes and encourages evidence based practice through research.
