Beaumont Hospital is a large academic teaching hospital who creates, collects and stores personal information on the people who use our services every day.  The way in which we manage this information is governed by GDPR and The Data Protection Acts 1988 to 2018.

What is General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

The GDPR came into effect on 25th May 2018.  It gives people more control over their personal data and puts a greater level of accountability on those organisations who wish to collect and process that data.

What does that mean for me?

It means that when Beaumont Hospital must always be transparent about the information that we collect and use about you when your use our services and ensure that this information is confidential and kept secure.

Can I see what information the hospital holds about me?

Yes, you can see your information on request.  Just email: routineaccess@beaumont.ie or phone +353 1 809 2873.  The Subject Access Request Form will help you with the information required for your request.

Do I have any other rights under GDPR?

  • As a ‘data subject’ you have the following rights:
  • Right of Access – you have the right to request a copy of your information;
  • Right of Rectification – you have the right to have inaccuracies rectified;
  • Right to be forgotten – you have the right to have your data erased (exemptions may apply);
  • Right to Data Portability – you have the right to have your data transferred from on data controller to another;
  • Right to object to processing – you have the right to object to certain types of processing (exemptions may apply)
  • Right of restriction – you have the right to restrict use of data (exemptions may apply)
  • Right to complain to the Supervisory Authority – if you are unhappy with how Beaumont Hospital is handling your personal data then you can make a complaint to the Supervisory Authority @ 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2.
