Nursing Philosophy

The Philosophy ensures that Nursing is committed to providing holistic patient-centred care to the highest possible standard in partnership within the interdisciplinary team.

Patients are supported and cared for in an open, welcoming and safe environment, where unconditional respect for patients, family members and staff as individuals is a valued premise.

St Josephs Hospital provides acute care for 69 patients. There are 3 Nursing Units and 2 Operating Theatres.

Surgical Unit 1

This unit has 10 beds and 8 day trolleys and a Day Ward with 6 day trolleys. Patients are screened in Beaumont Outpatients Department for this unit.

Rehabilitation Unit

There are 20 beds in the Rehabilitation Unit.  Patients are assessed by the Gerontology Team and are either admitted from Beaumont Hospital or from home.

Theatre

There are two main general anaesthetic theatres, three minor procedure rooms and a day theatre working Monday to Friday.   The case mix includes General Surgery, Urology, Vascular, Dermatology, Plastics, ENT.
