About Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a health care profession concerned with human function and movement to maximise potential. Physiotherapists use evidence-based exercise and physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being.

Physiotherapy - Rehabilitation Unit

In the Rehabilitation Unit, the physiotherapists work as part of the inter-disciplinary team in an effort to facilitate the person-centred goal orientated rehabilitation.

Physiotherapists provide both rehabilitative and educational sessions for patients and their families on an individualised basis. Areas of speciality include stroke and balance rehabilitation and falls prevention.

Close links with community services have been established to facilitate safe and effective discharges from the rehabilitation unit. There is also the facility for onward referral to services available to patients in Beaumont Hospital e.g. footwear clinics.
