Dialysis is primarily used to provide an artificial replacement for lost kidney function (renal replacement therapy) due to renal failure. Dialysis may be used for very sick patients who have suddenly but temporarily, lost their kidney function (acute renal failure) or for quite stable patients who have permanently lost their kidney function (stage 5 chronic kidney disease).

Treatment Options

Dialysis is a process in which your blood is filtered to remove waste products and excess fluid which build up because your kidneys are not working properly.

Haemodialysis Access

An access is a site from which blood can be safely removed and returned to your body. The access site is often referred to as your ‘lifeline’.

Home Therapies

If you choose to perform dialysis at home, you have two options – Home Haemodialysis or Peritoneal Dialysis.
