Staff Development

There is a strong emphasis on staff development from induction to specialist education.  In addition to the Post Graduate Diploma in Renal Nursing, we also run a six month Specialist Practice Programme in Renal Nursing which is fully accredited by the European Dialysis & Transplant Nurses Association.  This course is particularly suited to those nurses just starting their career in Renal Nursing or who have limited previous experience in this speciality.

Post Graduate Diploma in Renal Nursing in conjunction with the RCSI

The Post Graduate Diploma in Renal Nursing takes place over one calendar year. The successful student will have the option to continue into year two to complete the MSc in Renal Nursing.

The Course contains six modules; three core modules delivered in the Royal College of Surgeons, and three specialist renal modules delivered in the Centre of Education, Beaumont Hospital. The Specialist content of the programme focuses on key aspects of renal nursing. Topics addressed include:

  • Understanding and Management of Renal Disorders
  • Renal Replacement Therapies - Haemodialysis & Peritoneal Dialysis
  • Renal Transplantation & Therapeutic Plasma Exchange

Stand AIone Module - Urology

Expressions of interest are currently being invited for the Stand Alone Module in Urology (Level 8 + 9). This Module will run in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Beaumont Hospital. The provisional date to commence is September 2014. The course is open to both internal & external applicants .
