The severe airways disease service specialises in the delivery of expert care to patients with conditions across the spectrum of airways disease including asthma, COPD, ABPA, eosinophilic lung disease and unexplained breathlessness.

Specialist services include:

-COPD At-Risk Assessment (CARA) Clinic
-Oxygen and Non-Invasive ventilation Clinic
-COPD Outreach
-Respiratory Integrated Care

We have an active clinical research department in Asthma, COPD, unexplained breathlessness and inhaler adherence.

About

Our multidisciplinary service is delivered by a team of 4 respiratory consultants and 3 advanced nurse practitioners (ANP), supported by the general respiratory clinical nurse specialist team. We collaborate closely with our respiratory colleagues, the rapid access cancer clinic, and cross-site with the Mater hospital thoracic surgery, transplant and pulmonary hypertension teams. We have a busy COPD outreach service, supporting early hospital discharge, delivered by a dedicated team of 2 physiotherapists and 1 CNS.

We accept referrals from both primary and secondary care physicians, and from the respiratory integrated care specialist hub. Referrals can be made via healthlink, email (respiratoryadmin@beaumont.ie) or post.
