Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery

About

Our Upper GI service operates with a multidisciplinary team approach, ensuring that patients receive well-rounded care from a variety of specialists. This team includes Upper GI surgeons, dietitians, physician associate, specialized nursing staff, and advanced nurse practitioner. Regular multidisciplinary meetings are held where complex cases are discussed collaboratively to determine the best treatment plans for our patients.

We also have extensive expertise in minimally invasive techniques for other upper gastrointestinal conditions including surgery for GastroIntestinal Stromal Tumours (GISTs), Severe Heartburn, Para-oesophageal and Hiatal Hernias and Other Digestive Tract Diseases. The early detection of symptoms like difficulty swallowing, persistent indigestion, and reflex/heartburn saves lives. Patients with oesophageal and gastric cancers benefit from the assessment through our Rapid Evaluation Clinics.

Referrals

We accept consultant and GP referrals to our outpatient clinics upon receipt of a referral letter to the relevant consultant or by email (preferred) as below and/or through the electronic referral pathway Healthlinks.
