The Facilities & Estate Management Department, also known as TSD, manages and maintains the buildings, equipment, and systems that support the daily operations of the hospital on a site comprising approx 90,000 SqM of built stock. The team play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the facilities which make up the campus built environment. The department’s key focus is to ensure hospital building services that are fundamental to the delivery of clinical care continue to be available when and as required.
Estates management also includes upgrading works, maintenance or replacement of plant equipment, project management of all refurbishment or extension works, and liaison with external contractors, architectural and professional services across the whole campus. They work closely with the Health & Safety and Infection Control teams along with all other departments in the hospital to strive to provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff and all stakeholders using our facilities.
As well as the larger campus development activities, TSD carry out routine work order requests (roughly 14,000 per annum), planned preventative maintenance and management of third party maintenance contracts. A helpdesk is in place to assist Hospital staff in obtaining services from the TSD team. The team also provide an out of hours on call service to the Hospital.
Their staff include a wide variety of professional project managers, fire engineers along with mechanical and electrical trade managers and professional trade’s people.
Planning and commissioning Capital Projects (those funded from central Government) often take several years and form part of the Development Control Plan (DCP) for the whole campus. This sets out the future development needs of the Hospital in a strategic and planned manner. Beaumont Hospital has ambitious plans to develop the campus over the next number of years.
Beaumont Hospital is committed to meeting its Climate Action Plan 2030 energy and CO2 emission targets of a reduction in emissions by 50% and a reduction in primary energy by 50%. Subject to funding allocation from the Dept of Heath via the HSE a plan is in place to achieve this.
