Claire joined Beaumont Hospital in 2018, having trained and worked as a nurse and Clinical Nurse Manager at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin, since 1997. She initially joined the nursing team at Beaumont and progressed to Deputy Director of Nursing before taking the lead in developing the Cancer Directorate and the Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre as Operations and Accreditation Lead. The Cancer Centre was successful accredited by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI) in 2022.
In 2021, Claire trained as a peer review auditor with the OECI, advancing to the role of Chair. She now regularly leads peer reviews of cancer centres across Europe. In 2024, she was appointed to the Accreditation and Designation Board of the OECI.
From a strategic perspective, Claire led the development of the 2022-2025 Beaumont RCSI Cancer Strategy and more recently Beaumont Hospital Strategy 2025–2030.
A recipient of the prestigious Irish Research Council Employment Based Postgraduate Award, Claire is pursuing her PhD at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She also holds MSc degrees in Nursing and in Human Factors in Patient Safety.
Claire was appointed Chief Operations Officer in November 2024
