The Blood Transfusion Department is part of Clinical Directorate of Laboratory Medicine. It incorporates the Blood Transfusion Laboratory, the Haemovigilance and Traceability functions, and the clinical transfusion consultancy service.
The Blood Transfusion Department is actively involved in provision of the following services to all Hospital doctors, as well as to St. Joseph's Hospital Raheny, Raheny Community Nursing Unit, and St. Francis Hospice:
Routine hours: 8am -5pm Monday to Friday, 9am-1pm Saturday.
Emergency On -Call: 5pm -8am Monday to Friday, 1pm - 8am Saturday to Monday.
Please ensure samples arrive in the laboratory as early as possible in the working day.
There is no routine Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday service.
The Medical Scientist on call out-of-hours may only be contacted by bleeping 252
The Blood Transfusion Laboratory is an INAB accredited laboratory, see www.inab.ie for full scope of accreditation.
It complies with the regulations, policies, and terms and conditions of both the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA).
