Professor Karl Boyle, Consultant Stroke Physician

Professor Karl Boyle obtained his undergraduate medical training at Trinity College, Dublin, graduating with an honours degree in 2001. He completed postgraduate training in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine in Ireland before further subspecialty training in stroke medicine and dementia. This included a Clinical Stroke and Dementia Fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto and a Masters in Stroke Medicine from Danube University, Krems, Austria. He has extensive international clinical experience working previously as a Consultant Stroke Physician at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, England as well as a stroke neurologist and director of the Inpatient Stroke Service at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto. In 2017 Professor Boyle joined Beaumont hospital as a Consultant Stroke Physician and Geriatrician. He is the Joint Clinical Lead for Beaumont stroke service, helping to achieve European Stroke Organisation (ESO) Stroke Centre Certification with Beaumont Hospital becoming the only 24/7 comprehensive stroke centre in Ireland & the UK to achieve this distinction.
