The Medical Oncology Services at Beaumont Hospital function to deliver systemic therapy to patients with cancer. We work closely with allied specialties particularly radiation oncology, surgical oncology and palliative medicine. The Hospital is recognised and accredited by the European Society of Medical Oncology as an integrated centre for oncology and palliative medicine.
Our service includes a day oncology unit, inpatient service, outpatient clinics, and inpatient consultation service. The day oncology unit provides a location for assessment of patients, systemic therapy administration such as chemotherapy, supportive care, in conjunction with the palliative medicine service.
The service alsoprovides for the education and development of future medical oncologists and oncology clinical nurse specialists.
Our network includes referrals from Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown & Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.
The Medical Oncology service is staffed by a team of, medical oncologists, oncology nurse specialists, social workers, dieticians, physio- and occupational therapists, speech & language therapists, and psycho-oncologists.
The Cancer Clinical Trials Unit is supported by grants from the Health Research Board.
Referrals to the oncology service are from in-house consultants.
