Pre Placement Health Assessments

We assess and advise on fitness of prospective employees for their role. Previous work history, medical and mental health, and the demands of the specific role inform these assessments.

Vaccination and Serology

We check vaccine records and serology to establish if staff are adequately protected from relevant transmissible infections, provide immunisations as indicated, and follow up appropriately. Services are by appointment with periodic drop in clinics.

Management Referral

The OH service:

• Advises employees with an identified health problem affecting their work, or if work is affecting their health.
• Advises managers on employee's work fitness.
• Advises on a likely return to work date.
• Advises on workplace accommodation that may support maintenance of / a return to work fitness.
• Assesses medical eligibility for sick pay schemes such as CIP and TRR.
• Is committed to Making Every Contact Count and includes health promotion in our consultations.

Occupational Blood Exposures

Risk assessment & follow up of Occupational Blood Exposures (OBE).

Health Surveillance

Staff members exposed to certain hazards, as identified by the employer, are offered health surveillance for their protection.

Specific groups of Health Care Workers are offered health surveillance to protect patients from specific infections.

Education and Health Promotion

The department is involved in Induction, Leadership training, Grand Rounds, and holds periodic events such as Vaccination Awareness Days.
