CALL 112 OR 999 FOR AN AMBULANCE IF YOU NEED URGENT MEDICAL ATTENTION
The Emergency Department (ED) of Beaumont Hospital provides an urgent care service to more than 63,000 patients each year. The service is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
Beaumont Hospital is an adult emergency department which sees and treats patients over 16 years of age. The department also receives patients for neurosurgical assessment from other hospitals throughout the country.
The department is supported by on-call physicians and surgeons with the backup of the hospital’s critical care team.
Our GP Liaison Service works closely with local general practitioners should their patients attend the ED. An ED discharge letter with results of investigations and follow up arrangements for care following a visit to ED will be sent to your GP.
The Department also has a minors assessment and treatment unit (MATU), which is an advanced nurse practitioner provided service. This is a protocol-driven service and significantly helps to reduce the wait for patients with minor injury and illness attending the Emergency Department.
