Artificial Intelligence (AI)

About

Early diagnosis of lung cancer is essential for improving treatment outcomes and patient survival. CT scans of the chest can reveal subtle changes that may indicate early disease. Interpreting these scans requires the expertise of specialised doctors called radiologists.

Artificial intelligence (AI) may help the radiologist by providing additional analysis of the images during the scan. This technology acts as an additional tool which complements human expertise by improving accuracy and efficiency. Data analysed using AI software is managed according to current data handling legislation which ensures data protections and privacy.

It is important to emphasise that the radiologist (doctor) analysing the CT is responsible for issuing the final report. All decisions relating to diagnosis and treatment is made by human healthcare professionals.
