The emotional and mental health demands of Chronic Kidney Disease and Renal Transplantation (RT) are considerable. The Psychosocial RT Team provides assessment and support across the spectrum of the renal journey, including potential live kidney donors and recipients, from predialysis to postransplant care, with a focus on optimising transplant outcomes. There were 189 kidney transplants carried out in 2023, of which 30 were live kidney donors. On average, it takes assessment of 8 potential donors to achieve a single live kidney donation.
